In Loving memory of SKITTLES
In Loving memory of SKITTLES
Skittles Wilson
An SPCA kitty I found one day when in Annapolis, MD. Skittles was a loner most of his life, of 5+ short, but wonderful years. His last year, was one of the best I have enjoyed with a cat in my life. He died this past January 25th 2006.
It has been almost 7 months since his passing and I still find myself thinking about him alot. He and I played quite a bit. It’s hard to do because we have so many animals. Giving one so much attention is a bit unfair. Skittles is a bit of a special case, in that for so long he was a loner of sorts.
He rarely showed affection and kept to himself. He did however endear himself to our other animals. He was very close to our Dog, Gretel. Gretel misses him dearly, I really believe this. And was close to Buddy, one of our other kitties.
He played with most all the rest at different times but seemed a bit indifferent to Tami and I. Every now and then he would show signs of wanting our attention, but rarely.
Then there came a time this past year early in 2005 where Skittles seemed to become one of us. We started playing a game on the kitchen floor where I would scratch his back as he laid mashed to the floor, and slide him around on his belly. He seemed to not be able to get enough of it. He talked to me, he sat in my office with me. He always kept a little distance, but was never a nuisance. He just became a great little buddy.
The morning rub n slide ritual of ours in the morning, went on almost daily, all the way up to his death on that fateful morning January 25th at about 8 am. In fact, it was the last thing we did together, and within minutes after he passed away right in front of me. I guess that was his good by to me. For some reason, I am still not over it. 8/14/06
3/1/07, Skittles is still much a topic of conversation with Tami and I. We enjoy and are thankful for the pictures we have of him.
9/9/07, As time passes, we speak of Skittles mannerisms and how our youngest baby Munchkin is picking up some of Skittles ways. Munchkin is about 1 year younger than Skittles was before his passing.
Skittles and Shadow Napping
October 14th 2007,
Skittles is still a common thread to us frequently in conversation. I think about him still, and find myself talking about how his passing affected me to people who have lost their pets, and suffer through it.
